BMW prepares to 'revive' the legendary M8

BMWBlog quoted close sources as saying that the legendary M8 line of the German luxury car company will soon be 'revived' with not just one but three different models, including the M8 Coupe (F92), M8 Convertible (F91) and M8 Grand Coupe (F93).

The 8 series is seen as a new generation of the now-discontinued M6. The convertible, coupe and Grand Coupe versions of the M8 will be larger and more luxuriously equipped. The coupe version is expected to be launched first, in 2019, followed a year later by the M8 convertible and M8 Gran Coupe.

Similar to the upcoming F90 M5, all versions of the M8 are expected to use a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with up to 600 horsepower, driving all four wheels via an improved version of the xDrive system. According to BMWBlog, the car will be equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission instead of the usual M DCT dual-clutch transmission. Currently, BMW is still keeping it absolutely secret and has not revealed any details about the three new M8 body designs.

Although the M8 prototype was introduced in the 1990s, only one was ever built, and the most recent model remains a mystery. With its powerful V12 engine, 6-speed manual transmission, custom bodywork, and luxurious interior, this is the car any BMW fan would love to own.
