Targeting the small-sized manual transmission motorbike segment, Yamaha has officially renewed the YBR125 with the name YS125. As the name suggests, the new model will replace its predecessor while still using a 125cc engine. However, according to the Japanese car company, the 10.6 horsepower engine at 7,500 rpm and 10.8 Nm torque at 6,000 rpm has been improved to save more fuel and meet Euro 4 emission standards. The vehicle uses a 5-speed gearbox.

In terms of size, the YS125 2017 is 2,005 mm long, 735 mm wide, and 1,050 mm high. The saddle height is 795 mm, 15 mm higher than the old version, while the ground clearance is 150 mm, the gross weight is 129 kg, and the fuel tank is 14 liters. The small engine and large fuel tank help it run continuously for 300 km before having to refuel. In the front, the YS125 uses an inverted fork, while the rear is a simple spring. Like many other small-capacity models, the vehicle is only equipped with a front disc brake, while the rear wheel is still a drum brake.
Despite its large size, the Yamaha YS125 only uses a 125cc engine. |
Compared to the equipment, the design of the vehicle has not changed much, still strong and masculine but not too massive like its larger displacement brothers. The overall vehicle is heavily influenced by the FZ line, some new points are in the LCD and analog clock cluster, fuel tank cover, lights and high exhaust pipe. The vehicle is sold for 3,479 USD, quite high compared to the engine capacity but please remember that the YS125 is sold in Europe, specifically in the UK.
