Hoang Xuan Vinh won silver medal in world shooting
On the afternoon of February 28, shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh won the Silver Medal in the men's 10m air pistol event at the Shooting World Cup in New Delhi (India). Hoang Xuan Vinh continues to bring glory to Vietnamese shooting.

In the final round, Hoang Xuan Vinh scored 236.6 points. He was far behind the leading shooter Matsuda Tomoyuki from Japan (240.1 points). This achievement also helped Tomoyuki break the world record. The bronze medal winner in this event was the host country's athlete Rat Jitu (216.7 points).
As the world's number 1 shooter in this event, Hoang Xuan Vinh is considered to have a good chance of winning the gold medal. The final round showed that he was competing fiercely with Tomoyuki, Rai Jitu and Xu Zhanyi (China) for the leading position.
However, in the last 6 shots, the Vietnamese Olympic champion did not compete successfully, only getting 1 point of 10. Meanwhile, Tomoyki had 2 shots of 10.2 and 10.6 points. Thanks to that, the Japanese shooter surpassed Xuan Vinh to win the gold medal. In this event, Tran Quoc Cuong ranked 6th with 155.8 points.
Previously in the qualifying round, Hoang Xuan Vinh excellently took the lead with 581 points. His teammate Tran Quoc Cuong ranked 7th with 577 points. The men's 10m air pistol is Hoang Xuan Vinh's forte. He won the 2016 Olympic gold medal in this event, in addition to 2 World Cup gold medals in 2013 and 2014.
Before going to India to compete in the tournament, Hoang Xuan Vinh and Tran Quoc Cuong had a long training session in Korea. Thanks to the good support from the neighboring country and his own extensive experience, the shooters from Ha Tay (formerly) continued to bring home medals for Vietnamese shooting.

At the age of 40, this shooter won the World Cup gold medal and broke the record for the men's 10m air pistol event in the US with a score of 202.8. To date, Hoang Xuan Vinh's best achievement is winning the gold medal in the men's 10m air pistol at the 2016 Olympics with 202.5 points. This achievement also helped him set an Olympic record. In addition, he also won the silver medal in the men's 50m slow-fire pistol with 191.3 points. He is the first athlete of Vietnamese sports to have his name on the Olympic gold medal list. |
