Vegetable farm in Quynh Luu was awarded VietGAP certificate

(Baonghean.vn) - On February 21, the People's Committee of Quynh Luu district held a ceremony to award certificates of safe vegetable production according to VietGAP standards to the two communes of Quynh Bang and Quynh Minh.

Quynh Minh and Quynh Bang are two communes with a tradition of growing vegetables to supply the market in and outside the province. Immediately after the policy of building a safe vegetable production model according to VietGAP standards, Quynh Minh commune chose hamlet 1 with an area of ​​10 hectares with 53 members; Quynh Bang commune chose 4 hamlets with an area of ​​10 hectares with 164 members.

Products produced according to VietGAP standards of the 2 communes are mainly vegetables of all kinds, cauliflower, scallions, potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, zucchini, pumpkin. During the implementation process, members of the 2 communes were guided by officers of the Nghe An Department of Agricultural, Forestry and Fishery Product Quality Management to implement in a specific and scientific manner.

The Department also organizes training on vegetable growing techniques for farmers, instructs them on keeping a diary from the stages of soil preparation, composting, fertilizing, care, using fertilizers and pesticides at the right time, dosage, and duration of use to the harvesting stage, and the production process.

Thanks to that, the vegetable output of the 2 communes reaches 500 - 600 tons/year, ensuring food hygiene and safety quality and is highly appreciated by customers. The products are available in major supermarkets such as Metro, Big C...

At the ceremony, Mr. Tran Huu Tien - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of the province awarded certificates of products produced in accordance with good agricultural practices to the two communes of Quynh Bang and Quynh Minh. The certificates are valid from December 23, 2016 to December 22, 2018.
