(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of April 1, residents of Hamlet 17, Quynh Van Commune continued to discover two more dead pigs dumped in the Siphon culvert of the Vuc Mau large canal system.

» People panicked because the irrigation company opened the sluice to let the pig carcass... float away.

» People are upset because they continuously discover dead pigs being illegally dumped.

About 3 meters from the siphon drain, two dead pigs were floating (the big one weighed about 80kg, the small one about 50kg) in the process of strong decomposition, emitting a foul smell.

Along with that, many dog, chicken and duck carcasses were also thrown into the garbage, causing congestion in the canal, affecting the living environment of surrounding households.

Ms. Dau Thi Van, who lives next to the Siphon culvert, said: "Around noon on March 31, I smelled an unusual stench. I went to the canal bank to check and saw 2 pig carcasses along with some dogs, chickens, and ducks floating in the culvert. In recent days, Quynh Van residents have been very upset because they have continuously discovered animal carcasses being illegally dumped into the canals, so I reported it to the commune to handle the environment.:

Present with reporters at the spot where more dead pigs were discovered, Mr. Nguyen The Lai - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Van Commune said: "The locality is suspecting that there is an outbreak of disease in the area or neighboring communes such as Quynh Thach, Quynh Hau, Quynh Xuan Ward (Hoang Mai Town), so many animal carcasses were discovered illegally dumped into the canal like that."

Currently, the commune is vaccinating livestock for the 2017 Spring crop according to the plan of the District People's Committee, so it will send veterinary officers and village chiefs of 20 hamlets to coordinate in checking and counting the number of pigs of each household and promptly report to the commune to monitor which households are unusually short of pigs in order to check and detect outbreaks early.

The commune will also direct 20 hamlets to report illegal dumping of pig carcasses to raise people's awareness and will reward anyone who discovers individuals or organizations illegally dumping pig carcasses into the environment.

In addition, the commune also reported to the district People's Committee, proactively contacted the leaders of the irrigation enterprise to take measures to salvage these two pig carcasses for burial, and could not let the phenomenon of opening the sluice to let them drift away like the day before.

Also on the morning of April 1, Mr. Ho Dai - Hamlet 9, Quynh Van, whose house is near canal N28, said: "At around 7am, two irrigation workers used a pole to push a pig carcass out of the sewer and it drifted to the basin of Quynh Bang commune"./.
