(Baonghean) - Approaching the people with affection and responsibility, for many years, officers and soldiers of the Provincial Military Command have carried out many practical projects in various localities. These roads and economic models not only help improve people's lives and make villages more prosperous, but also strengthen the bond between the military and the people.

"Three things together" with the people

For many years, the people of Nam Giai commune (Que Phong district), a mountainous area, have become familiar with the sight of officers and soldiers from the Provincial Military Command coming to live, eat, and work alongside the people. Given the difficult conditions of Nam Giai commune, with its high percentage of poor and near-poor households, these soldiers have chosen to carry out many practical and sustainable tasks. Not only do they provide medical examinations and medicine, but the unit has also invested in supporting the construction of fences, equipping the commune's health station with beds and some medical equipment. Therefore, despite being a poor commune, Nam Giai now has a health station that meets national standards, contributing to better healthcare for the people.

Nam Giai also bears the mark of the soldiers with its new, well-maintained rural roads, creating favorable conditions for people's travel. In particular, through two support campaigns, the Provincial Military Command has donated a total of 25 cows to local poor people. The Secretary of the Nam Giai Commune Party Committee, Ngan Van Tinh, shared: “The people of the commune are very grateful and moved by the help of the soldiers, which has helped the locality to sustainably eradicate poverty.”

Meanwhile, at Regiment 764, in carrying out civilian outreach work, the unit's officers and soldiers have participated in many activities to help Nghi Kim commune (Vinh City) with irrigation work, road construction, and field exercises to assist the people of Nam Giai commune (Que Phong), Yen Hoa commune (Tuong Duong), Quang Thanh commune (Yen Thanh)... Lieutenant Colonel Phan Dinh Quang - Political Commissar of Regiment 764 said: The forces of Regiment 764 are also the core in activities to help the people and localities in emergency tasks such as helping the people of Hung Trung commune (Hung Nguyen) harvest rice to escape the floods in 2016, and fighting forest fires in Nam Dan and Dien Chau districts...

Stationed in the border area of Na Ngoi commune (Ky Son district), the western frontier of Nghe An province, in a border region still facing many difficulties, the officers and soldiers of the 4th Economic and National Defense Brigade - Nghe An Provincial Military Command have done many things that have contributed to fundamentally changing the lives of ethnic minority people in the Economic and National Defense Zone. For many years, local people have become familiar with the image of officers and soldiers acting as teachers in literacy classes, and as dedicated technical officers guiding people in building economic development models such as: cultivating ginger with a yield of about 300 tons/year, with the unit purchasing the product to create a stable market for the local people; or the turmeric cultivation model implemented in 2016 and expanding to an area of 3 hectares.

This year, the unit is implementing a passion fruit cultivation model for local people with an initial 200 plants. Lieutenant Colonel Vo Van Duc - Political Commissar of the 4th Economic and National Defense Brigade - Provincial Military Command, said: “In 2017, the unit will continue to expand effective models to improve the lives of people in border areas. Along with that, the unit is currently undertaking a project to purchase a non-fired brick making production line and selecting four disadvantaged families to support the construction of sturdy houses. Through this, we encourage people in border areas to build sturdy houses using this material to combat deforestation, stabilize the population, and prevent uncontrolled migration.”

Strengthen mass mobilization

It can be said that over the years, the Provincial Military Command has consistently focused on educating its officers and soldiers to deeply understand the importance of mass mobilization work, continuously consolidating and strengthening the close relationship between the army and the people. To deepen mass mobilization efforts, the provincial military force has strongly focused on the grassroots level, paying attention to key areas, while simultaneously innovating the content and forms of mass mobilization work. As a result, mass mobilization work has been widely implemented throughout the entire force and achieved high effectiveness, with a focus on successfully carrying out the new rural development movement; humanitarian and charitable activities, social welfare, gratitude and repayment, and policies for the military's rear support, especially in remote, disadvantaged, and special areas. In particular, not only is this a task assigned for regular annual implementation, but officers and soldiers of the provincial military force also play a crucial role in ad hoc mass mobilization activities as required by the mission.

Recently, during a visit to the Provincial Military Command, General Ngo Xuan Lich, Member of the Political Bureau, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, and Minister of National Defense, assessed that Military Region 4 in general, and the Provincial Military Command in particular, have made many concrete contributions to Party work, especially in terms of innovative thinking and awareness in mass mobilization. Emphasizing the crucial role and significance of mass mobilization in the revolutionary cause in the current period, the Minister of National Defense requested that the armed forces continue to learn from experience and implement it even better.

In that spirit, in 2017, the Provincial Military Command identified mass mobilization work as one of its most important tasks. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Ky Hong, Deputy Head of Political Affairs, Provincial Military Command, stated: This year, the Provincial Military Command will continue to direct units to coordinate with localities in implementing the new rural development program; focus on assisting the poor commune of Nam Giai (Que Phong) with cultural facilities in the villages and providing medical examinations and medicine to the local people; organize field trips and mass mobilization activities in special areas; continue to effectively implement policies and regulations for people with meritorious services; coordinate with forces of Military Region 4 to carry out mass mobilization work in the area; and especially coordinate to successfully conduct the province's 2017 regional defense exercise.

It can be said that, through concrete and practical actions, the officers and soldiers of the Provincial Military Command have upheld the traditions of Uncle Ho's soldiers, deepening the affection, trust, and respect for the people, becoming a solid "pillar" for them. Through this, they have gradually harnessed the combined strength of the people to build a strong national defense, maintain political stability and social order, and create a foundation for socio-economic development.
