Russia denies building military forces near North Korea

Earlier, some media outlets in Russia's Far East quoted local residents as saying they had seen military equipment being moved to the border with North Korea, amid escalating tensions with the US over Pyongyang's nuclear program.

“These are pre-planned military exercises, and are definitely not related to political issues,” said Alexander Gordeyev, a spokesman for the Russian Far East military.

He said the military equipment that people saw was being transported to the base, where the equipment would be permanently deployed after the exercises ended./.
