Driver who caused fatal accident in Nghe An and fled was caught

(Baonghean.vn) - After causing a fatal accident, the driver fled to Ha Tinh to hide. However, through extracting camera footage at the toll station, the police have clarified the incident.

On April 2, Colonel Le Van Thai - Head of Hung Nguyen District Police said that the police force had clarified the identity of the driver and the vehicle that caused the accident and fled on the evening of March 17.

The accident occurred at around 6:15 p.m. on March 17, at Km 22+410 on National Highway 1A, Vinh City bypass, in Hamlet 8, Hung Loi Commune, Hung Nguyen District, between a truck and a woman walking across the road.

As a result, the victim was run over by a car and died on the spot. Taking advantage of the dark and deserted scene, the driver who caused the accident immediately fled the scene.

After receiving the information, Hung Nguyen District Police approached the scene, coordinated with the Criminal Techniques Department (PC54) of Nghe An Police, to conduct a crime scene investigation and autopsy.

According to Colonel Thai, the biggest difficulty was that the accident occurred on a deserted road, there were no witnesses at the time of the accident, and the driver fled. Meanwhile, evidence at the scene showed that the victim was a woman, her body was crushed beyond recognition.

However, through professional measures, the authorities identified the license plate of the DONGFENG truck as belonging to a garage owner in Nghe An, but this person had sold it to a transportation company in Huong Khe district, Ha Tinh province.

From this information, in coordination with Huong Khe District Police, the police force quickly identified the vehicle owner and driver of the car on the day of the accident as Nguyen Dinh P. (born in 1984), residing in Huong Khe District, Ha Tinh Province. Initially, this subject denied all information related to the accident, but with solid evidence, Nguyen Dinh P. admitted his actions./.
