In a diplomatically-toned farewell letter to former colleagues, Mr. James Comey said he would not be concerned about President Trump's decision to fire him and how it was carried out.
“I have long believed that a President can fire an FBI Director for any reason, or for no reason at all,” the former FBI Director said. “I will not waste any time thinking about this decision. I hope you will too. It’s done, I’ll be fine. I will miss you and the work.”

On May 8, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rotenstein raised their concerns about Mr. Comey’s handling of the matter with President Trump. After the conversation, the President asked these officials to write down their findings about Mr. Comey.
In his letter dismissing Mr. Comey, President Trump stated: “He is not competent to effectively lead the FBI. Therefore, a change in leadership is necessary to rebuild trust between the White House and law enforcement agencies.”./.
