The protest began at Gwanghwamun Square in central Seoul. They marched along Eunji and Thuekye streets, holding signs calling for Park Geun-hye's arrest and her responsibility for the Sewol ferry disaster. Others marched toward the Prime Minister's Office, calling for the resignation of Acting President and Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn.
Meanwhile, supporters of Ms. Park Geun-hye also held a march near the Tukshu Palace area to protest her arrest.
Also participating in the march were lawmakers Kim Jin-Thae and Jo Won-jin, presidential candidates of the Liberty Korea Party.
Police have deployed 12,300 security personnel near protest sites. Several recent pro-Park rallies have turned into street riots as protesters attacked both police and reporters.
The protest took place just a week after the South Korean Prosecutors' Office conducted a direct interrogation of former President Park Geun-hye.
The Korean public is interested in whether the country's prosecutors will decide to arrest or detain Ms. Park Geun-hye./.
