Nghe An: Shippers 'rescue' chives

(Baonghean.vn) - The price of shallots is in the harvest season and is low and difficult to sell. Faced with this reality, Do Luong district (Nghe An) has stepped in to help sell more than 20 tons of shallots to help people at double the price that traders buy.

Tru Son Commune (Do Luong) grows 50 hectares of shallots. This year, in the harvest season, the price at the field for each kilogram of shallots is from 15,000 to 18,000 VND. Compared to 2016, the price of shallots is half lower. Meanwhile, harvesting shallots requires a long time and is very hard, 1 sao must be harvested from 10 to 20 days.

The initial reason for the "price drop" of shallots is that farmers have increased their acreage compared to last year, but there is also a reason that traders are forcing down prices and lowering costs.

Faced with that situation, Do Luong district youth union coordinated with farmers to sell shallots and deliver them to families at a price of 30,000 VND/kg.

Right in the first session organized in the above form (afternoon of March 31), the district union sold more than 400 kg of shallots to farmers.

To organize the sale of shallots to farmers, the Standing Committee of Do Luong District Youth Union mobilized many families and some organizations and individuals to buy shallots to help Tru Son farmers. The mobilization was carried out through phone calls and advertising on social networks.

Despite the rain over the past two days, the district youth union’s shipper team has been enthusiastically delivering goods to customers. The union members are working hard to achieve their goal of selling more than 20 tons of shallots to farmers.
