Why did Conte have to leave Chelsea when he was successful and treated well?
Some sources from Italy revealed that Inter Milan are very close to receiving the nod from Antonio Conte, the current coach of Chelsea. In fact, it is extremely difficult for the Italian strategist to leave Stamford Bridge.

It is not easy for Conte to leave, when Chelsea is still running smoothly. |
Tuttosport reported that the reason why Antonio Conte wanted to leave Chelsea was because the Italian strategist felt homesick, and he wanted to return to work in his homeland. If he agreed to leave England, Conte's salary at Inter would be 13 million pounds/year, with a transfer budget of up to 350 million pounds, a figure that would be enough to rebuild the team in an effort to return to the position of a big team in Serie A. A figure that would be attractive enough for any coach, not just Conte.
Conte is treated well at Chelsea
But it would be hard to believe that Conte would immediately move to Inter next season. He has a perfect job at Chelsea, and the team is still firmly at the top of the Premier League, creating a gap of up to 10 points over Tottenham.
Conte is fully capable of winning the Premier League and FA Cup double in his first season in charge of Chelsea, just like what Carlo Ancelotti, another Italian, did in the 2009-10 season.
Above all, Conte is still receiving good treatment from Roman Abramovich and the Chelsea board. He was provided with the best personnel in the summer transfer window, typically the deal of N'Golo Kante from Leicester.
Furthermore, the 47-year-old strategist has full authority to deal with veterans like John Terry or Branislav Ivanovic, something that was not seen in his predecessors. The atmosphere in the dressing room at Stamford Bridge is still very peaceful, even though Ivanovic has left and Terry often has to sit on the bench.
Under Conte's hand, the 3-4-3 formation is becoming the key to the explosion of a series of pillars such as Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, or underrated faces such as Marcos Alonso, Pedro.
If Conte leaves, both Chelsea and he will be at a disadvantage.
While Chelsea are enjoying a comfortable Premier League run, Inter are still in a state of disarray, despite being owned by Chinese owners. They sacked Frank De Boer at the start of the season and are now relying on a lesser-known coach, Stefano Pioli.
Currently, the San Siro team is ranked 6th, 6 points behind 3rd place Napoli, and their performance is generally quite erratic. It will not be easy for Pioli and his team to return to the Champions League arena next season, a factor that is attractive enough for a top strategist like Conte.
Chelsea are certainly well aware of Inter's interest in Antonio Conte, as evidenced by the fact that the club are quick to prepare a new contract, with a salary that is said to be significantly improved compared to the modest £6.5 million/year that the Italian strategist currently enjoys. Abramovich never spares money when it comes to retaining key players, and Conte is no exception.
Moreover, if Conte leaves, the stability that Chelsea currently has will certainly be severely affected. Thanks to the appearance of the Italian strategist, players with rich personalities like Costa have focused on scoring goals, instead of getting lost in unnecessary controversies.
Or Hazard, who was poor last season, is rediscovering his form after being freed from defensive duties under Conte. It is not hard to imagine a wave of players leaving if Chelsea fail to retain Conte.
Above all, Conte’s departure will reignite the “coach mill”, a not-so-nice way of referring to Chelsea’s frequent change of managers under Abramovich. They had wanted to end this by sticking with Mourinho long-term, but then the conflicts between the coach and the players and members of the team forced the two sides to part ways.
As for Conte, leaving Chelsea also means he puts himself under great pressure at Inter, where he is unlikely to be treated as well as at Chelsea.
