Harvard President to speak to Vietnamese students

The 28th President of Harvard University (USA) will spend 45 minutes presenting to students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University).

On the morning of March 23, Professor Drew Gilpin Faust, President of Harvard University (USA), will visit and work with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Here, she will meet with the Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University and work with the President of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on the potential, important directions, and priorities for cooperation between the two universities.

Next, the female principal will give a presentation to thousands of lecturers and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on the topic of the American Civil War with the content "The War is Over: Memories and Historical Lessons".

Drew Gilpin Faust is a professor of history at Harvard University's School of Humanities and Sciences. Raised in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, she studied at Concord Institute in Massachusetts.

She received her undergraduate degree—majoring in history—from Bryn Mawr College in 1968, her master's degree in 1971, and her doctorate in 1975 from the University of Pennsylvania, with a thesis on American civilization.

She was honored with awards in 1982 and 1996 for her outstanding teaching achievements at the University of Pennsylvania.

Professor Drew Gilpin Faust was elected to the Society of American Historians in 1993, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1994, and the American Philosophical Society in 2004.
