Five people were killed and 40 injured in the London terrorist attack. The incident occurred on March 22, exactly one year after the shocking terrorist attack in Brussels that killed 32 civilians and three attackers, and injured about 300 people.

The attacker drove a gray Hyundai i40 into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge, heading towards the British Parliament, killing at least two pedestrians. Among the five dead was a police officer, Keith Palmer (48), with 15 years of service. He was stabbed to death by the terrorist while guarding the Parliament. The fourth person killed was the attacker, shot by police. The fifth victim is unknown.

London police have confirmed it was a terrorist attack, which came a week after they conducted an anti-terror drill.

What happened brought back the horrific memories of exactly one year ago, when three terrorists coordinated a series of bombings at the metro station and airport in the Belgian capital, killing 32 people of different nationalities. It is not clear whether there is any connection between the perpetrators of this attack and the perpetrators of the Brussels attack.

Channel 4 News reported that the suspect in the attack was Abu Izzadeen, a hate-minded and terrorist supporter. However, his lawyer later insisted that his client was in prison and could not have caused the incident. Meanwhile, the BBC quoted information from London police saying that they knew who the attacker was.

Head of counter-terrorism at the Metropolitan Police, Mark Rowley, revealed that they are investigating the incident as being influenced by international terrorism.

British Prime Minister Theresa May confirmed that the perpetrator acted alone, denying previous reports that there were two attackers. She called the attack "sick and depraved". However, she affirmed that Britain would not raise the terror alert level after this incident.
