"The achievements of the Russian defense industry, coupled with the increase in the military budget, are becoming a reason for concern," the newspaper asserted.
The newspaper called Russian anti-ship missiles such as the P-800 "Onyx" and the supersonic "Zircon" missiles the most serious threat to the British fleet. The Times also focused on the "Varshavyanka" project submarines, considered the quietest and most invisible in the world.
The Russian anti-aircraft missile systems S-300 and S-400 have no equal, and the S-500 will have an even greater range of operation, British journalists write.
In addition, Moscow is developing the "Nudol" missile and space defense system, which "could threaten British and American space systems based on navigation and communication systems, which could directly affect core combat capabilities."
"Predicting wars is one of the most difficult tasks for the British Ministry of Defence. The large sums allocated for two 60,000-ton aircraft carriers, anti-aircraft missiles, F-35 fighter jets and armored vehicles show that the focus of the agency's attention is on Russia and China," the article said.
