Two parishes donate thousands of square meters of land to build new rural areas

(Baonghean.vn) - Catholics in Hoa Son commune donated 2,120 square meters of land, moved over 800 meters of fence to open rural roads, and contributed hundreds of millions of dong to build new rural areas.

That was the information given at the summary meeting of the patriotic emulation movement among Catholics in the period 2012 - 2017 in Hoa Son commune (Anh Son). Attending the congress were 36 outstanding delegates representing families of the two parishes of Quan Lang and Phuc Son.

In recent years, Catholics in Hoa Son have made significant contributions to socio-economic development as well as strengthening the great national unity bloc. The movement of economic development and sustainable poverty reduction has been focused on by the people. The poverty rate at the end of 2011 was 16.8%, and now it is less than 5%. The average income per capita at the end of 2016 reached 23 million VND/person/year.

Delegates attending the closing ceremony gave their opinions on the new rural construction movement.

From 2012 to now, Catholics in Hoa Son commune have donated 2,120 m2 of land, moved over 800 m of fence, including over 200 m of fence wall to open rural roads, contributed construction materials, labor days and cash with a total value of over 621 million VND, built 3,520 m of rural concrete roads, 628 m of intra-field roads, and installed 165 bright lights on village roads.

Up to now, over 95% of households have personal waste treatment pits, ensuring environmental sanitation, over 87% of households have achieved the title of cultural family, sports family, 100% of children of school age are able to go to school, last school year, 6 children passed the entrance exams to colleges and universities. The solidarity between the people of both religions and religions here is always strong, in the spirit of openness, together building a rich and beautiful homeland.
