Traditional medicine clinic owner arrested for selling opium

Advertising poppy plants and fruits for sale on social media along with a contact phone number, Thanh was caught red-handed by a police raid while selling these banned goods to customers.

At around 9:00 a.m. on April 11, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Team of Cam Pha City Police (Quang Ninh) suddenly raided Linh Thanh Duong Traditional Medicine Clinic, located in Zone 2, Cam Thinh Ward.

Here, authorities caught Trieu Quoc Thanh (36 years old) - the clinic owner, in the act of illegally selling poppy plants and fruits to a number of people in the area.

Seized evidence included a bag of poppy stems and fruits weighing 1.2 kg and 9.8 million VND in cash.

Thanh told the police that he bought the opium plants and fruits in Sa Pa to sell to those who wanted to use them.
