Nghe An students in Hue sell gai cake for charity
(Baonghean.vn) - In recent days, on the streets of Hue City, there are many young people in yellow uniforms rushing to deliver cakes to customers. They are Nghe An students at Hue University who are implementing the program "selling gai cakes for charity".
This program started when a student in Hue posted on Facebook calling on fellow Nghe An residents to donate to help a woman in Do Luong who was suffering from terminal cancer.
Nghe An students at Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry came up with the idea of selling gai cakes to earn money, to help this family and other situations such as students, relatives, and children of Nghe An people who had accidents or were sick and were being treated at hospitals in Hue.

After discussion and agreement, the students in the Nghe An Association at Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry immediately started implementing the idea with the desire to "help people in need according to the students' ability". The plan to "sell gai cakes for charity" was implemented in 4 days with nearly 50 students participating, including students from Hue University of Foreign Languages.
The program selected and purchased gai cakes from craft villages in Anh Son district, ensuring delicious quality. In the first three days, the students focused on promoting on social networks, clearly stating the purpose of the sale, calling on fellow countrymen, brothers, and relatives to buy the products, then summarizing the quantity and calling Nghe An to order cakes to be sent in.

Tran Dinh Ho from Yen Thanh, a third-year student at the Faculty of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, said: This is the first time the Association has organized an online charity sales program, so there are still many surprises and shortcomings; the program took place close to the semester exam period, so it was "stuck" in terms of time, but thanks to enthusiasm and solidarity, the activity went smoothly.
Thanks to the good propaganda work, many people responded to buy products, share and call for purchases, not only customers in Hue city, but also in Da Nang. Some people supported the program "Sell sticky rice cake for charity" by cash or sending money to help, via ATM card.
Because the gai cake was delivered from Anh Son to Hue later than expected, and the weather conditions were unfavorable, with prolonged rain, the shipping was difficult and had to be carried out all night, only stopping after 10pm.
The quantity of cakes is large, and the shipping is far away, so the students in the Association have created conditions by lending each other motorbikes to travel. By the end of May 19, after one day and night, the "yellow shirt students" team had sold more than 2,000 gai cakes, minus the consignment fee, earning a profit of more than 10 million VND.
According to the plan, this money will be used by the Association to support the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Suu, in Nhan Son commune, Do Luong district (a mother and her four children are taking care of each other in difficult times, Ms. Suu herself is suffering from terminal brain cancer) and some other situations. The Association will directly send people to visit and give gifts.
Talking about the program “Selling sticky rice cakes for charity”, Nguyen Huu Tu, from Thanh Chuong, a 4th year student of Veterinary Medicine at Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry - the initiator of the program said: “Although the amount of money earned from selling cakes is not much, we have contributed a small part to help families in difficult circumstances in our hometown with our own efforts and abilities. In addition, through this activity, we also enhance the spirit of solidarity and mutual support of our fellow Nghe An people when studying far away from home”.
