7 year old boy sings folk song making Cam Ly choke up

The female judge choked up while watching Nghi Dinh and Nhat Vy's performance of "Sister Two" on the game show searching for children's talents.

Episode 6 of the Future Idol contest aired on the evening of April 15. Nghi Dinh, 7 years old, from Long An and Nhat Vy, 10 years old, from Can Tho performed the song "Chi Hai" by musician Son Ha.

On stage, Nghi Dinh wore a school uniform, Nhat Vy wore a traditional Vietnamese dress in a village setting with a bamboo bed, a shoulder pole, and a bunch of vegetables... The two transformed into sisters, singing about the sacrifice of the older sister in a family without a mother or father, the older sister had to carry a basket of vegetables day and night to raise her younger sibling.

The two young contestants showed off their clear voices to the background music of folk songs. In the role of the younger sister, Nghi Dinh captured the judges' emotions with the lyrics: "Father died the day I learned to crawl/ Two replaced mother to hold me so I wouldn't cry." The little girl also showed her acting ability in the lines expressing her concern for her older sister who was struggling to make a living. Sitting below, judge Cam Ly hummed along to the young contestant's lyrics. At the end of the performance, she quickly wiped away her tears.

People's Artist Thu Hien shared that she watched with sadness as the two children expressed their emotions and acted like real sisters. The artist also commented that Nghi Dinh sometimes lacked confidence, but the female judge liked this point about her. Singer Cam Ly commented that Nhat Vy had not fulfilled her role as an older sister, and kept her distance when singing and performing with Nghi Dinh.

The judges agreed to let the pair of young contestants move on to the next round. In the first round, Nghi Dinh was the contestant who caused a stir with her performance of Bun rieu cua dong. Cam Ly praised her as a "folk song phenomenon".
