Con Cuong farmers in trouble with yellow-backed locust plague

(Baonghean.vn) - Since late March and early April, due to hot and humid weather, yellow-backed locust outbreaks have appeared en masse in Con Cuong district.

Currently, over 10 hectares of crops in Con Cuong district are damaged by yellow-backed locusts, most concentrated in Lang Khe commune.

Through inspection, locust nests are commonly concentrated on young shoots and rice fields. Density 1 - 2 nests/m², on average 300 - 400 individuals/nest, in many places there are up to 500 - 700 individuals/nest. Faced with the rapid spread of the yellow-backed locust epidemic, Con Cuong district has focused on drastic and synchronous direction, at the same time the district also supports 100% of medicine for people to spray to control the epidemic.

Con Cuong district has organized inspection teams to guide people to promptly suppress the epidemic according to the motto: detect the nests of eggs hatching, spray to eliminate them to save costs. Spray the right medicine, mix the right dosage and concentration, spray directly on the nests of locusts that are clustered and about to hatch to achieve high efficiency.

In order to help Con Cuong district quickly control the yellow-backed locust epidemic, Nghe An Province's Plant Protection Department has directly directed and supported the district in planning, forecasting, and organizing spraying. At the same time, it has sent technical staff to directly inspect the field and participate in providing solutions to fight the epidemic./.
