DAPA said five types of domestically produced multi-purpose wheeled vehicles have been delivered to frontline units of the 12th Infantry Division and the 2nd Marine Division since January 2017, during a four-month trial period before mass production to replace the aging K-131 and K-311A1 vehicles.
The new vehicles are expected to greatly enhance the capabilities of combat units, said DAPA Brigadier General Um Dong-hwang.
According to DAPA, the basic model of these new vehicles has a maximum speed of 135km/h, has superior maneuverability in mountainous terrain, has an automatic transmission, is equipped with a global positioning system and a rear-view camera.
The agency also said they are considering the possibility of exporting the above vehicles due to their competitive features and prices.
