Nghe An students win prizes at the UPU International Letter Writing Competition
(Baonghean.vn) - Hoang Phu An, a 10th grade student at Do Luong 1 High School, is the first student from Nghe An to win a prize at the UPU international letter writing competition for children.
On the morning of May 27, at Do Luong 1 High School, representatives of the Department of Information and Communications and the Department of Education and Training awarded the Promising Writer certificate to Hoang Phu An in the 46th UPU International Letter Writing Competition in 2017.
This is a competition organized by the Universal Postal Union with the theme: Imagine you are an advisor to the new Secretary-General of the United Nations; which world issue would you help him tackle first and how would you advise him to solve it?

In his role as an advisor to Mr. Antonio Guterres, Hoang Phu An expressed his deep concern for vulnerable groups of children in society, including: children born in the war-torn country of Syria; disabled children and children suffering from depression and psychological effects due to life pressures...
At the same time, propose solutions to support education, social work, as well as cooperation from international organizations to help these children integrate into the community.
Hoang Phu An’s article won the “Promising Writer” award at the 46th UPU International Letter Writing Competition. This is also the first time Nghe An province has had a student win an award in this competition.
2017 is the 30th year of the UPU International Letter Writing Competition, jointly organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Vietnam Post Corporation and the Young Pioneer Newspaper. After 5 months of implementation, the Organizing Committee received 1,171,328 entries from students in 63 provinces and cities across the country. After 5 rounds of judging, the National Jury selected 100 entries for the final round. The results included 1 first prize, 3 second prizes, 5 third prizes, 30 consolation prizes, and 61 promising writer prizes. In addition, the Jury selected 3 entries from 3 blind and disabled contestants to award additional prizes. |
