Vietnam guides legal support procedures for Doan Thi Huong's family
The Vietnamese Consular Department today met with the family of Doan Thi Huong, a Vietnamese citizen charged by Malaysia in connection with the death of a North Korean.

Representatives of the Consular Department this morning instructed Doan Thi Huong's family on providing legal support for her in accordance with Malaysian law and international practices, a statement from the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Yesterday, the representative of the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia was present at the Court.Sepang district, Selangor state, Malaysia,to protect Huong's legal rights.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia is continuing to carry out themeasures to protect citizens within the scope of authority, to ensure fair proceedings.Vietnamese authorities will also ensure all legitimate rights of Vietnamese citizens, including assistance in finding lawyers in accordance with the laws of the host country.
Doan Thi Huong and the Indonesian female suspect yesterdaywas brought to court to hear the prosecutor read the indictment.after the 14-day detention period expires. Huongsaid he was innocent after being charged by a Malaysian court with the murder of a North Korean citizen whose passport name is Kim Chol.Lawyer S. Selvam Shanmugam, representing Huong, believes she is innocent.
Mr. Kim died on February 13 after being smeared with a chemical suspected to be the nerve agent VX by two female suspects. Huong and the Indonesian suspect told police they thought it was a prank.
The case is expected to be transferred to the High Court in Shah Alam and the next hearing is scheduled for April 13.
