Deploying population campaign in 101 extremely disadvantaged communes
(Baonghean.vn) - Mobilizing and supporting the improvement of the quality of reproductive health care and family planning services in mountainous communes with special difficulties and densely populated areas with high birth rates is one of the goals of 2017. This is also the main content deployed at the launching ceremony of the integrated communication campaign to provide reproductive health care and family planning services organized by the Department of Population and Family Planning on the morning of March 3 in Lang Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district.

The integrated communication campaign to provide reproductive health care/family planning services is an annual activity and is of great significance. This is a peak occasion to focus on propaganda, mobilization, and support to improve the quality of reproductive health care/family planning services in localities. In 2017 alone, the campaign was organized in 101 communes in mountainous areas with difficult and high birth rates.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Tan - Deputy Director General in charge of the General Department of Population and Family Planning said: In recent years, people's awareness has changed a lot, from giving birth based on quantity to focusing on quality. However, Nghe An and some other provinces and cities across the country still have a high birth rate of 2.6 children/couple. To overcome these limitations, not only the Population sector but also local authorities, departments and especially people need to raise awareness about implementing Population and Family Planning work, striving to build equal, prosperous, happy and sustainable families.

In order for the campaign to be effectively implemented, at the launching ceremony, on behalf of the Provincial Steering Committee for Population and Family Planning, Mr. Hoang Van Hao - Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Health requested localities and units to improve leadership and direction for population and family planning work; actively integrate campaign propaganda into activities of departments, branches and organizations to ensure active and maximum participation of all levels and branches; pay attention to propaganda and mobilization of subjects such as women of childbearing age, couples with only girls and special and especially difficult areas./.
