Ward Vice Chairman was slapped while clearing the sidewalk
When carrying out the task of clearing the night market and dealing with the encroachment of sidewalks on the central streets of Buon Ma Thuot City (Dak Lak), the functional force team encountered fierce resistance from small traders. A ward Vice Chairman was slapped in the face by an extremist.
On April 11, Mr. Vu Van Hung - Vice Chairman of Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee - said that the unit has directed Buon Ma Thuot City Police to strictly handle 5 subjects who had acts of resisting people on duty that occurred on the afternoon of (April 10) when the functional forces were clearing the Buon Ma Thuot City night market.
“When the interdisciplinary team was on duty, five extremists obstructed and resisted. One of them attacked an urban security officer, injuring him and requiring hospitalization. Another attacked the Vice Chairman of Thanh Nhat Ward,” Mr. Hung informed.

Immediately afterwards, these subjects were taken to Buon Ma Thuot City Police for handling according to the law.
According to Mr. Hung, the interdisciplinary delegation of Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee will continue to clear the night market and reclaim the sidewalks.
“It is expected that from now until April 20, the People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City will clear the night market, restore the beauty of the center of Buon Ma Thuot City; then expand to the wards to restore urban order, reclaim sidewalks for pedestrians,” said Mr. Hung.

Previously, asPeople's Intelligencereported that on the evening of April 10, the Vice Chairman of Buon Ma Thuot City directly went to the streets to direct the inter-sectoral delegation of the Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee to clear Buon Ma Thuot night market and handle the situation of encroachment on sidewalks for trading. While the delegation was on duty, many small traders strongly protested and some extremists rushed to fight against the authorities.
The People's Committee of Buon Ma Thuot City said they are also restoring order and will arrange new trading places for people after clearing the night market.
