"Anyone who accelerates climate change by weakening environmental protection, selling weapons to conflict zones, or refusing to resolve religious conflicts politically, is putting European peace at risk," AFP quoted German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel as saying today.
According to Mr. Gabriel, the narrow-minded policies of the US government go against the interests of the European Union (EU).
“The West is becoming smaller, or at least weaker,” Mr. Gabriel added.
The comments came after US President Donald Trump wrapped up his first foreign trip, visiting Saudi Arabia, Israel, Brussels and Italy for the G7 summit. German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on May 28 that the US and UK may no longer be reliable partners.
