Nghe An and 3 Lao provinces cooperate on border security

(Baonghean.vn) - On May 22, at Nghe An Provincial Police, the 2017 Security and Order Cooperation Conference took place between Nghe An Provincial Police and Border Guard with the Police of the three provinces of Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang and Bolikhamxay (Lao PDR).

Implementing the memorandum of understanding on cooperation in maintaining security and order between Nghe An Provincial Police and the Police of the three provinces of Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang and Bolikhamxay, from 2016 to present.The Nghe An Police, Border Guard (BĐBP) and the Lao provincial Police have provided and exchanged over 200 pieces of information and documents related to security and order in the border area.

The two sides coordinate to effectively resolve issues related to national security and order in the domestic and border areas; do a good job of propaganda and mobilization to raise people's vigilance against plots and propaganda of hostile forces against the two Parties and the two States of Vietnam and Laos. At the same time, coordinate well in State management of national security and order on the border.

In addition, the work of fighting, preventing and combating crimes of human trafficking, illegal exploitation and transportation of forest products, arresting 35 cases, 38 subjects, seizing 127,143 m3 of wood of all kinds; coordinating to arrest nearly ten wanted subjects, hiding in Laos.

In particular, from August 2016 to present, the Police and Border Guard forces of Nghe An province have eliminated 135 cases, arrested 179 drug criminals on the border, seized 141 heroin cakes and over 253 grams of heroin; 23,724 synthetic drug pills; over 2,090 grams of crystal meth; 41 kg of marijuana; 2 cars and many military weapons of various types...

In the spirit of special solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, Nghe An Provincial Police and the Police of the three provinces of Hua Phan, Xieng Khouang and Bolikhamxay agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in protecting security and order in 2017.

In particular, focusing on issues related to the activities of hostile forces and activities of reactionary organizations in exile; strengthening propaganda and education, mobilizing people to comply with the laws of each country, strictly implementing border regulations, respecting each other's independence and sovereignty, and at the same time strengthening coordination to more effectively implement state management of security and order in border areas, management of people, household registration, and management of weapons and explosives.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Le Ngoc Hoa, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, highly appreciated the achievements in border protection work of Nghe An Police and Border Guard and Police of 3 Lao provinces in the past time; at the same time, he hoped that in the coming time, they would continue to closely coordinate in activities to maintain security and order in border areas, contributing to building a peaceful and friendly border, especially between Nghe An and the provinces of Xieng Khouang, Hua Phan, Bolikhamxay in particular and Vietnam and Laos in general./.
