At the meeting, delegates said that bringing traditional martial arts into schools is a very correct policy. However, in reality, most students are practicing martial arts such as Taekwondo, Karatedo... Therefore, they hope that the Department of Education will soon issue a document directing implementation in schools. In the immediate future, it will be implemented in schools in Vinh City, then continue to expand to other areas.

Comrade Vo Viet Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of Vinh City Party Committee, Chairman of Nghe An Province Traditional Martial Arts Association chaired the meeting. Attending the meeting were representatives of the Department of Education; Vinh City Youth Union; traditional martial arts masters in the province; Executive Committee of Vietnam Traditional Martial Arts Association.

The representative of the Department of Education and Training said that since receiving the directive from the Government Office and the Ministry of Education and Training (in 2005), the Department of Education has implemented a number of traditional martial arts movements in the mid-school physical education classes. In order to bring traditional martial arts into schools, the representative of the Department of Education proposed that the Association and the Department should have a coordinated program; standardize a unified curriculum suitable for each age group of students. However, it is necessary to emphasize the human factor, specifically the team of martial arts masters and teaching staff.

It is expected that next July, the Association will organize a traditional martial arts competition with the aim of finding talented martial artists to train high-performance athletes as well as to build a movement to practice traditional martial arts of the nation.

Traditional martial arts is a subject of “the combination of hardness and softness”, so in addition to training students in strength, speed, endurance, and highly artistic moves, students also practice flexibility and softness. Bringing traditional martial arts into schools not only helps students practice their health in the simplest way but also guides them to have national pride and the spirit of respecting teachers.
