83-year-old pervert sentenced for molesting a girl

On April 25, Yen Thanh District People's Court opened a trial for the case of "Child molestation" against Nguyen Dang Thu, 83 years old, in Hamlet 2, Bac Thanh Commune, Yen Thanh.

According to the indictment, at 7:00 p.m. on August 25, 2016, Thu went to Mrs. Thai Thi Nha's house (living in the same neighborhood) to ask about Mrs. Nha's husband who was sick and had to be hospitalized. At that time, Mrs. Nha was washing dishes in the kitchen so she only greeted him from outside.

After sitting for a while, Thu left. As soon as he stepped down the steps, Thu saw L. (born in 2009) and a boy playing together. When Thu reached the gate, L. followed him. Thu immediately picked L. up and molested him. When L. cried out, Thu put her down and left.

Hearing her niece complain of pain in her genitals and recount the incident, Mrs. Nha reported it to the police. Nguyen Dang Thu was arrested shortly after.

At the trial, Nguyen Dang Thu denied his crime, but with undeniable evidence, Thu finally bowed his head and admitted his actions.

The People's Court sentenced Nguyen Dang Thu to 6 months suspended imprisonment.
