Speaking at the welcoming ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Le Trong Hung - Head of Intel ISEF 2017 delegation said: Intel ISEF 2017 has the participation of 78 countries with a total of 1,778 students. Specifically, Vietnam is 1 of 48 countries/territories with projects winning prizes of the Competition out of a total of 78 countries/territories participating in Intel ISEF 2017.

Of the 8 participating projects, our country has 5 winning projects (including 1 third prize and 4 fourth prizes). In addition, there are 4 projects winning special prizes awarded by science and technology organizations and businesses.

On behalf of the Ministry of Education and Training, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Nghia warmly welcomed and commended the group of students returning from Los Angeles (USA) with a proud victory.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that while Mathematics is a field in which Vietnam has a long history of competition, in this field of science and technology, we are still very new compared to other countries in the world. Accordingly, Vietnam officially participated in the Intel ISEF competition since 2013. This international playground gathers about 80 countries/territories to compete each year. The competition requires candidates to have comprehensive knowledge from science, project skills to confident presentation skills in English.

“Although we have just joined, we have impressive achievements, each year's achievements are higher than the previous year; the ranking has improved, the quality has increased. The good news is that this year Vietnam is among 60% of participating countries that won prizes and especially, ranked 3rd overall. That result demonstrates the bravery and intelligence of Vietnamese youth in the international arena, bringing glory to their families, teachers and homeland,” Deputy Minister Nguyen Thi Nghia happily said.

According to the Deputy Minister, this initial achievement will be a driving force for the students on their future path and they themselves will be the core and nucleus for scientific and technical research activities at the school. At the same time, it is the right direction to prepare for the implementation of the new general education program and the 4th Industrial Revolution.
