At around 4:30 p.m., because it was raining, he brought the goods into the house early. “I was lining up when I heard a loud noise from in front of the house and ran out to see the passenger bus with its left side shell peeled off. A number of people were huddled in the dented vehicle and some people were thrown out of the front window and were trying to get up. Looking over there, a large truck was lying on the side of the road, the back of the truck stretched out quite a long way.”

Immediately after that, Mr. Tuan and some people rushed to the passenger bus to take the person to the emergency room. “There weren’t many people in the passenger bus, only about 8 to 10 people, some men with minor injuries got off the bus. We went in and saw a seriously injured woman trying to get up and was quickly helped down, while some people in front were lying motionless. There was a child about 1 to 3 years old also lying next to the two dead women. I thought the child was still alive so I quickly carried him down the bus. As soon as I stepped down from the bus door, I saw that the child’s head was deeply sunk, I touched his neck and saw that he was no longer breathing, everyone told me to put him back on the bus so the authorities could work. About 5 minutes later, everyone had packed the scene, one or two people were taken to the hospital by ambulance right after that. Thinking back now, it still feels creepy,” Mr. Tuan recalled.

I didn’t know what to do, I just cried and they helped me off the bus.”
