Chiba prefectural police said they will re-arrest the suspect in the murder of Le Thi Nhat Linh on suspicion of murder, after his detention period expires on May 5.

Accordingly, on April 14, suspect Shibuya Yasumasa, 46 years old, was arrested in connection with the death of Le Thi Nhat Linh, a 9-year-old Vietnamese girl in Japan last month.

The man’s arrest warrant was for abandonment of a body, not murder. His DNA matched that of a sample collected at a crime scene.

This man lives in Matsudo, Chiba Prefecture, 300 meters from the victim’s house and was the president of the parents’ association of the elementary school Linh attended. This man also directly participated in the activities of guardianship of students going to school to ensure their safety. However, on the day Linh went missing, he did not participate in this activity as usual.
