South Korea's Yonhap news agency on May 14 quoted Japan's private newspaper TBS as saying that North Korea had informed China about its nuclear test last month, but Beijing had warned of an economic blockade if Pyongyang conducted its sixth nuclear test.

According to the newspaper, on April 18, North Korea informed China that it would conduct a new nuclear test two days later (April 20).

At that time, Pyongyang announced that it had completed preparations for the 6th nuclear test and could conduct it at any time.

Beijing then warned of an economic blockade of both land and sea routes if Pyongyang conducted its sixth nuclear test, forcing the country to cancel its planned nuclear test on April 20.

TBS also added that at that time, China also instructed the police force in the Northeast region (bordering North Korea) to be on duty all night to proactively prevent damage that could arise due to the impact of North Korea's nuclear test./.
