According to the charges, although President Donald Trump announced in January that he was transferring leadership and management of the Trump Organization to his sons Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., the President's plan did not include relinquishing ownership of the companies or establishing a trust.
The lawsuit also claims that President Donald Trump has violated the Constitution's "earnings" clause with business interests, calling into question the rule of law and the integrity of America's political system.
Maryland and Washington County Attorneys General Brian Frosh and Karl Racine, both Democrats, are expected to announce more details of the lawsuit.
The Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington also filed a similar lawsuit in January, claiming that President Donald Trump violated the Constitution by allowing his companies to receive money from foreign governments, such as allowing diplomats to stay in his hotels or foreign governments to rent offices in the President's buildings./.
