(Baonghean.vn) - These days, many households in An Hoa commune (Quynh Luu) have entered the shrimp harvest season with joy of a good harvest, earning hundreds of millions of VND per crop.

As a household with a large shrimp farming area of more than 3 hectares of ponds, in recent days, Mr. Ho Vinh Hung in Hong Phong village has been the one who hit the jackpot in the first shrimp crop with an output of nearly 10 tons. After nearly 90 days of farming, the shrimp reached a weight of 50-55 shrimp/kg. After selling to traders at 165,000 VND/kg, his family earned a profit of more than 1 billion VND.

“This year’s first crop of shrimp has been the most successful in recent years, with few diseases and healthy growth. To achieve this result, shrimp farmers must have a good farming and care process and especially always keep the water environment clean to ensure healthy growth of the shrimp,” Mr. Hung shared.

Sharing the same shrimp farming area in Hong Phong village, Mr. Nguyen Van Trang's family is actively taking care of and waiting for the first shrimp harvest. With a pond area of 3,000 m2, stocking density of 130 shrimp/m2, after 64 days, the shrimp in the pond has reached 75 shrimp/kg. Mr. Trang said that in about 10-15 days, they will gradually sell the shrimp, the shrimp will reach 50-60 shrimp/kg, at that time the price of shrimp will fall to about 160-170 shrimp/kg; estimated shrimp output is about 8 tons. After deducting expenses, the family earns a profit of 450-500 million VND.

“This is the first shrimp crop that the family has renovated the pond using new technology, thereby controlling shrimp diseases. Like last year and previous years, due to farming in earthen ponds, the shrimp harvest only reached about 2 tons, but this year the output is 4 times higher. Shrimp farming using technology has brought positive results,” said Mr. Trang.

According to shrimp farming experience, to be successful like Mr. Nguyen Van Trang, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Duc, Mr. Ho Van Hoe... the most important factor is the environment; then the infrastructure, equipment and farming techniques. Currently, many households that have won big in the first shrimp crop of 2017 have boldly invested hundreds of millions of dong to buy black tarpaulins spread around the pond and the ground, buy aerators, fans to create oxygen for the shrimp... In addition, households apply shrimp farming technology using microorganisms, using molasses mixed with biological products to release into the pond to kill miscellaneous bacteria; To prevent diarrhea in shrimp, farmers feed shrimp with herbs such as garlic, leaves mixed in the water...

Thanks to the application and compliance with the farming process, this year, the people of An Hoa commune all had a good shrimp crop. On average, each shrimp farming household earned a profit of 200-400 million VND; especially households with large pond areas, over 5,000 m2, earned a profit of 800-1 billion VND.

Mr. Nguyen Van Quyet - Vice Chairman of An Hoa Commune People's Committee said that the locality has 44 hectares of industrial shrimp farming ponds. Unlike some communes with large shrimp farming areas such as Quynh Bang, Quynh Luong, Quynh Thanh, etc., each shrimp farming household in An Hoa commune has a small pond area, an average of 1,000 m2 - 3,000 m2/pond. Because the ponds are small, investment in equipment and machinery is limited. However, people still ensure shrimp farming at the permitted ratio, so they achieve high results. As of June 10, people harvested 90% of the first crop of shrimp, with an output of about 160 tons, accounting for 50% of the year's shrimp output. According to the general assessment, this year, people in An Hoa commune have a successful shrimp crop in terms of output and price.
