The failed escape of the murderer of his ex-lover
After his ex-lover demanded 20 million VND for lottery tickets, a man from An Giang killed the girl in her rented room, created a fake crime scene, and then fled to Cambodia.
Chau To Yep (44 years old, from Tan Chau town, An Giang) is known by drivers as a real gambler. He used to be a passenger car owner and driver on the Ca Mau - Chau Doc (An Giang) route. To Yep used to have a happy family and a comfortable life, but it all quickly disappeared when he became addicted to gambling.
More than three years ago, during a trip to Ca Mau, he met and confessed his love to a girl 13 years younger than him, who worked as a lottery contractor. After a while, the girl said goodbye to find a new love.

Even though the relationship had ended, the man still frequently visited the girl to ask for a debt. When the debt was more than 20 million VND, the "debt ghost" was asked by his ex-lover to pay but did not pay.
After many times of debt repayment, at the end of March 2016, the girl found Yep when the bus just arrived at Ca Mau bus station. Both of them went to the girl's rented room in Ca Mau city to negotiate the debt repayment.
Here, Yep was forced by his ex-lover to pay 10 million VND that same day or else he would make a big deal out of it. Seeing the creditor continue to shout loudly, afraid that people in the boarding house would hear, he used his hand to press the girl's face down on the mattress for a while, causing the victim to die.
To fool the investigation agency, Yep carried the body into the bathroom and placed it face down in a bucket of water, creating a fake crime scene. After erasing all traces, the killer took 2 phones and 32 gold bracelets of the victim. During the night, Yep drove back to his hometown in An Giang, then escaped to Cambodia.
Meanwhile, after receiving the case, Ca Mau Provincial Police quickly deployed professional investigation measures. A day later, Chau To Yep was identified as the main suspect, after screening nearly 100 suspects.
Dozens of detectives were divided into two groups, one to intercept Yep in Ho Chi Minh City, the other to the suspect's hometown. "He is so cunning, all the SIM cards used to contact friends and relatives are used only once and then discarded," the detective said.
After many days of verification, the detective was told by Yep's close friend that he was in Cambodia waiting to go to Laos, but did not know the specific area.
"We determined that Yep could not have escaped without money," said the investigator, adding that when contacting his friend, Yep always changed his SIM card and meeting places to receive money to avoid being tracked by the police.
On the evening of April 3, 2016, five days after committing the crime, Yep returned to the Vietnamese border to meet his close friend and was arrested. "He was very calm when he was invited to work, and kept saying that he only committed the crime of gambling," the investigator said.
However, faced with undeniable evidence, Yep bowed his head and admitted his guilt. He stated that the gold bracelets he took from the victim, when he brought them back to An Giang, were condensed at a gold shop and sold for 32 million VND to cover his escape expenses.
When he was first arrested, the suspect was mentally broken, cried and wanted to die, but after being analyzed and encouraged by the police, he gradually stabilized, confessed honestly and confessed his crime.
During the days in detention, awaiting trial, Yep wrote a letter of apology to the victim's family, and hoped to receive forgiveness./.
