(Baonghean.vn) - On June 7, the Kremlin criticized the shooting and suicide bombing in the capital Tehran, claimed by the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) earlier the same day, and called for greater cooperation from the international community in the fight against terrorism.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the recent terrorist attacks once again underscore the need for coordinated action in the fight against terrorism and IS. This means the international community needs to work more closely with Muslim countries.

On the same day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that a series of terrorist attacks in Iran were a sign of the unprecedented rise of international terrorism.

Speaking to reporters after talks with his Spanish counterpart Alfonso Dastis Quecedo, Lavrov expressed hope for an early bilateral meeting of the Russian-Spanish expert group to mitigate current new challenges and threats.

“In the context of the unprecedented rise of global terrorism, the work of this expert group is urgently needed. Terrorists will not be restrained, and this is demonstrated every day, including today's terrorist attack in Iran,” the Russian Foreign Minister stressed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has long called for broader international cooperation in the fight against IS, but Russian government officials have expressed frustration with Washington's reluctance to cooperate with Moscow on the issue.
