In the last days of June, under the scorching sun and hot winds of Central Vietnam, we joined the crowds of people from all over the country visiting the Truong Bon Historical Site. Mr. Hoang Kim Lieu (born in 1950), a former Youth Volunteer from Hai Lang district (Hai Le district, Quang Tri province), said emotionally: "This is my first time visiting the Truong Bon Historical Site, and being able to light incense to remember my fallen comrades is truly moving."

For veteran Tran Ngoc Hue (Le Chan district – Hai Phong city), who was stationed in My Son commune (Do Luong), he was deeply moved because this was the first time in decades he had the opportunity to return to the land once ravaged by war, a place filled with so many memories. Highway 15A has now been widened, houses line both sides, and more shops have sprung up. A bustling urban life is gradually emerging, masking the harshness and desolation of war. And what warmed his heart most was that the old Truong Bon, now a historical site, has been developed into a sacred and magnificent space, with profound educational significance and becoming a destination for historical tourism that anyone visiting Do Luong, Nghe An, seeks out...

The Truông Bồn Historical Relic Site was built on an area of 217,327 m2 with 21 main components. This project was invested in, donated, and supported by the Provincial People's Committee, the Ministry of Transport, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and many agencies, units, collectives, and individuals both domestically and internationally. Launched in October 2012, the project has now been completed and all 21 components have been handed over.

A vibrant green hue, thanks to the ancient trees, permeates the Truông Bồn Historical Site. Many schools in the province have chosen Truông Bồn to hold ceremonies for admitting new Youth Union members. Many young people also visit Truông Bồn to offer incense and flowers before their weddings. Notably, since the beginning of the year, the Truông Bồn Historical Site has regularly hosted and served activities such as commemorating historical events, revisiting former battlefields, and as a venue for reporting achievements at the Youth Union Congress and Veterans' Association at all levels.

Mr. Chu Vinh Hiep, Director of the Truong Bon Historical Site, said: Truong Bon is a place for sightseeing and spiritual pilgrimage. At Truong Bon, delegates and the public will be able to watch the most vivid documentary films about Truong Bon through images and electronic dioramas... visit the monument symbolizing the heroic sacrifice of 1,240 martyrs on the legendary road, and light incense to commemorate the martyrs at the Memorial House...

Along with commemorative activities, the historical site regularly organizes extracurricular events such as awarding prizes to outstanding students, holding ceremonies to admit new Youth Union members, and organizing pre-wedding incense-burning ceremonies for young couples. On average, the Management Board of the historical site welcomes and serves nearly 8 delegations with over 300 delegates and more than 200 tourists each day who come to visit and pay tribute to the heroic martyrs.

Entering 2017, the number of delegations, citizens, and tourists visiting increased. In the first five months alone, on average, nearly 9 delegations with almost 400 delegates and over 200 tourists visited daily. On Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, the number ranged from 15 to over 30 delegations with more than 600 delegates, citizens, and tourists.

In the "Project for the Preservation and Promotion of Historical and Cultural Relics in Do Luong District, 2015-2020", along with other historical sites such as Qua Son Temple, Ba Nang Pagoda, Phu Tho Temple, Phu Nhuan Communal House, Hoang Tran Family Church, etc., Truong Bon Historical Site is one of the most popular spiritual tourism destinations attracting many visitors in the district today.

To promote the value of the Truông Bồn historical site, in addition to strengthening propaganda work through the central and local press and radio systems, the district has linked and formed tourist tours such as: Truông Bồn Historical Site - Ba Nàng Pagoda - Đức Hoàng Temple - traditional rice cracker and peanut candy making village - Monument to the Victory over the US Air Force - Ba Ra Dam in Đô Lương - Nguyễn Cảnh Hoan Temple - Quả Sơn Temple - Bà Bụt Pagoda; Truông Bồn Historical Site - Ba Nàng Pagoda - Phú Thọ Temple - Phú Nhuận Communal House - Hoàng Trần Family Church - Xuân Như silk weaving village; Truông Bồn Historical Site - Ba Nàng Pagoda - Long Thái Communal House - Hội Thiện Temple - Trù Sơn pottery making village.
