Hyundai SantaFe recalled due to hood latch defect.

Specifically, the first recall with the largest number of affected vehicles is up to 437,400 Hyundai SantaFe and SantaFe Sport crossover SUVs from 2013-2017 worldwide due to a cable defect in the second hood release latch.

The cause given by Hyundai is that the cable can corrode and cause the hood to not be able to close. Therefore, when the first hood lock is opened, the second hood lock will no longer be effective in keeping the hood closed.

At the end of last year, the Korean car company also had to recall 41,000 Hyundai vehicles due to a similar defect.

The second recall affects nearly 150,000 Sonata sedans and 10,800 Genesis vehicles from the 2015-2016 model years. The reason for the recall is that corrosion causes the parking brake switch to not work, which can make it impossible for the driver to know whether or not they are braking while driving, and can be dangerous for the driver and passengers in the event of an accident.

Hyundai will recall nearly 600,000 vehicles this time on June 30.
