14 year old girl is 6 months pregnant, suspected to have been raped by a neighbor

Discovered by her family to be 6 months pregnant, a 14-year-old girl in Thanh Hoa claimed to have been sexually abused by a male neighbor.

On June 20, Mr. Trinh Van Hai, Chief of Thieu Phu Commune Police (Thieu Hoa District, Thanh Hoa), said that the district-level investigation agency is investigating the case of a 14-year-old girl who became pregnant unexpectedly. Investigators have taken statements from the victim and the suspect and taken the child to the hospital for examination.

The girl was confused when she found out she was pregnant.

According to Thanh's family (in Thieu Phu commune, Thieu Hoa district), his daughter Ly (born in 2003) stays at home with her grandmother when her parents go to work.

The baby was still in the stage of eating and growing, so the family paid little attention to unusual physiological signs. On June 1, the family noticed that Ly's belly was larger than normal, so they took her to the hospital for a check-up. The doctor informed them that the baby girl's belly contained a 22-week-old fetus.

When questioned by relatives, the girl said that around before Tet, she was at home with her grandmother when a neighbor named Van came over and asked her to carry a bag of rice.

After locking the door, the man restrained Ly and committed a depraved act. Out of fear, Ly did not dare tell anyone.

"Since she found out she was pregnant, my daughter has not dared to leave the house. She is mentally unstable and physically weak," said a relative.

Ly's parents then went to Mr. Van's house to talk, hoping that if it was true, they would work together to remedy the situation. However, Mr. Van denied it, so the family filed a complaint with the authorities.

Ms. Huong, Ly's mother, said the family will let her give birth and have a DNA test to expose the person who ruined the child's life.
