Regarding the collapse of the Hoang River bridge over the Yen River in Quang Trung Commune, Quang Xuong District, which completely isolated hundreds of households on both sides of the Yen River, on the afternoon of July 21, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Tien Dung, Deputy Head of Quang Xuong District Police, said: The district police have investigated and clarified the cause of the Hoang River bridge collapse.

Accordingly, the cause of the bridge collapse was that the sand-carrying ship (made of cement) owned by Mr. Pham Tien Hung (41 years old), in Quang Trung commune, Quang Xuong district, broke its anchor rope and drifted freely, crashing into the foot of the bridge, causing 4 spans of the bridge to collapse into the river, dragging the sand-carrying ship down right under the foot of the bridge.
