In particular, in the genres of reportage, investigative reportage, journalistic reportage, notes (printed newspapers) and news, reportage, and memoir (visual newspapers), many works from local press agencies have been well evaluated by the National Press Awards Council.

Thứ trưởng Bộ TT&TT Hoàng Vĩnh Bảo nhấn mạnh Giải Báo chí Quốc gia là giải thưởng cao quý dành cho những người làm báo.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Hoang Vinh Bao emphasized that the National Press Award is a noble award for journalists.

Mr. Ho Quang Loi - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the Final Jury of the 11th National Press Awards - 2016 affirmed: The National Press Awards are always the most prestigious awards, have the power to attract, and become a prestigious brand of the press nationwide. The National Press Awards are also a tribute to, and inspiration for, the passion for the profession and the constant dedication of journalists.

This year’s National Press Awards received 1,637 press works from 214 participating units and individuals. These are typical works, with high discovery and combativeness, spreading, creating positive social effects, focusing on reflecting the country’s major issues, contributing to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

“The works submitted for this year’s award all closely follow the outstanding events of 2016, closely follow the political tasks; promptly reflect developments in social life such as the situation of the sea and islands, economic development associated with environmental protection, associated with agriculture, farmers, rural areas, new rural construction, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, good people and good deeds; fight against hostile forces, corruption, negativity...”, Mr. Ho Quang Loi said.

Chairman of the Final Jury Ho Quang Loi also emphasized that the highlight of this year's season is that the works have quite even quality, there is no big difference in quality between the works of central and local press agencies. In particular, in the genres of reportage, investigative reportage, journalistic notes, notes (print) and news, reportage, and memoir (visual), many works from local press agencies have appeared and have been well evaluated by the National Press Awards Council.

Sharing more about this issue, Mr. Tran Ba Dung, representative of the Judging Council, said: “In the Preliminary Council, each work was judged by 6 judges, and in the Final Council, each work was judged by 38 judges. For me personally, the work that caused the biggest surprise was “Chuyen nhu troi o Hai Duong”, which for the first time went to the end to analyze the shortcomings in the work of organizing cadres, then initiated a series of articles in newspapers about the shortcomings in the work of appointing and rotating cadres... Or in the field of television this year, there were no reports that won the A prize, the highest was only 3 works that won the B prize, and the works that won the B prize were all from local stations, the way of expression was very modern, almost keeping up with the central television station”.

In addition to the above advantages, this year's National Press Awards still have many works that have not made a breakthrough in discovering topics and have not found a thorough solution to the practical problems. Many printed and electronic newspaper articles are too long. Many radio works still lack significant creativity and innovation.

With fairness and seriousness, the Final Jury decided to award prizes to 95 works, including 7 A prizes, 24 B prizes, 39 C prizes and 25 Encouragement prizes (more than 50% are works of local press agencies).

The prize value of the 11th National Press Awards - 2016 has increased compared to before. Specifically, the A prize increased from 50 million VND to 60 million VND; the B prize increased from 35 to 40 million VND; the C prize increased from 25 - 30 million VND; the Encouragement prize increased from 7 to 10 million VND.

The closing ceremony and awarding ceremony of the 11th National Press Awards - 2016 will be held on the occasion of the 92nd anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day on the evening of June 21, 2017 in Hanoi.
