Prime Minister cuts ribbon to inaugurate new headquarters of Vietnamese Embassy in the Netherlands

The Prime Minister had a friendly talk with officials and staff of the Embassy and many representatives of the Vietnamese community living and studying in the Netherlands.

On the evening of July 9, local time, in the capital of The Hague, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his wife and a high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Government visited and cut the ribbon to inaugurate the new headquarters of the Vietnamese Embassy in The Hague. The Prime Minister then had a friendly talk with the staff of the Embassy and many representatives of the Vietnamese community living and studying in the Netherlands.

At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands Ngo Thi Hoa reported to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on the implementation of assigned tasks, promoting cooperation and connection between Vietnam and the Netherlands in economics, trade, education and training.

The Netherlands is one of the destinations that Vietnamese students want to study, especially high-tech agriculture, and there are currently about 1,200 Vietnamese students in the Netherlands. The Vietnamese community in the Netherlands integrates well with the local community, has stable jobs, is always united, preserves the cultural features of the nation, lives in solidarity and always looks towards the homeland.

At the meeting, many representatives of the Vietnamese community were delighted to meet Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and said that the Vietnamese community in the Netherlands always looks towards their beloved homeland. The Vietnamese community in the Netherlands is happy and proud to see that the domestic socio-economy has been constantly developing in recent times, including poverty reduction, infrastructure development, transportation, and security and order being ensured; especially with the current foreign policy, Vietnam's prestige and position have been constantly raised in the international arena.

In recent times, the Vietnamese community in the Netherlands has carried out many charitable activities, joining hands to support the homeland and the country in difficult circumstances. Along with that, there is always a sense of preserving and promoting national identity, solidarity, mutual support, building a strong Vietnamese community in the Netherlands, continuing to contribute to the development of the country.

Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister commended and highly appreciated the practical activities of the Embassy's staff in performing their assigned tasks well, contributing to promoting the friendly and cooperative relations with the Netherlands in recent times; at the same time, he highly appreciated the Vietnamese community in the Netherlands for always looking towards the homeland, preserving and promoting the cultural identity and national traditions in a place far from home. The Prime Minister also highly appreciated the learning spirit of 1,200 Vietnamese postgraduates and students in the Netherlands and their desire to contribute to the country.

The Prime Minister said that the Vietnam-Netherlands relationship is currently developing well, and informed overseas Vietnamese that the purpose of this visit is to deepen the Strategic Partnership on Climate Change Adaptation and Water Management as well as the Strategic Partnership on Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security between the two countries. Along with that, it is to evaluate and find measures to further promote cooperation in priority areas between the two countries including: climate change adaptation and water management, agriculture, energy, marine economy and logistics services; calling on Dutch enterprises to invest and do business in Vietnam.

Emphasizing that the Netherlands is a country with experience and technology in responding to climate change, the Prime Minister hopes that Vietnamese students and researchers in the Netherlands and research groups from within the country will come to the Netherlands to research and cooperate in technology transfer, especially when our country is among the groups most affected by climate change in the world.

Appreciating the Embassy for its good preparation of the visit to the Netherlands, the Prime Minister noted that the Embassy's staff should pay more attention to the Vietnamese community in the Netherlands, considering it the sentiment and responsibility of the representative of Vietnam in the Netherlands.

Emphasizing that trade and investment relations between Vietnam and the Netherlands are developing well, with two-way trade turnover reaching 7 billion USD and investment of about 9 billion USD, the Prime Minister hoped that the Vietnamese community in the Netherlands would continue to be a bridge to further promote this cooperative relationship.

“In the Netherlands, they have researched and consulted on a number of very good projects for Vietnam in various fields, especially in the fields of organic agriculture and high-quality agriculture in Vietnam in the coming time in a number of fields,” said the Prime Minister. “This potential is still very large if we know how to take advantage of it. This is also the direction that the Embassy must research to make this cooperation more effective and practical.”

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the Prime Minister acknowledged the opinions of the Vietnamese community in the Netherlands and said that they are the basis for studying and perfecting policies, so that overseas Vietnamese can contribute more to their homeland and country./.
