Coach Pellegrino leads Southampton

Southampton FC have appointed Mauricio Pellegrino as head coach on a three-year contract.

Coach Mauricio Pellegrino, 45, is highly regarded after helping the small club Alaves reach the final of the Spanish King's Cup last season. Mauricio Pellegrino was appointed by Southampton to replace coach Claude Puel, who was fired earlier this month after an unsuccessful season.

Speaking to the media after signing for Southampton, manager Pellegrino said: “My philosophy is that the foundation of the club must work well. I want to win, be successful and develop a team spirit where everyone is 100% ready to support each other. I am very excited and hopeful about the bright future of the team.”
