According to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, US officials began to show "impatientness" when President Putin and President Trump showed no intention of stopping their bilateral talks on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Hamburg, Germany on July 7, even though more than an hour had passed.
According to the original schedule, the first meeting between the two Russian and US leaders will only last about 30 minutes, before the two presidents continue with their next work plans on the agenda at the G20.
As the person sitting next to President Trump during the meeting with the Russian leader, Secretary of State Tillerson said he reminded the White House owner several times about the duration of the meeting, but things still did not progress as expected. In that situation, the US side "called for help" from First Lady Melania Trump.

“They even brought in the first lady in the hope that she could get us out of the room, but that didn’t work. We continued to talk for another hour after Mrs. Trump came to see us. It was clear that even she couldn’t do anything,” Secretary Tillerson said.
The meeting between President Trump and President Putin ended after 2 hours and 16 minutes. Compared to the original 30-minute schedule, this is not a short time. That shows that many issues were discussed at this meeting.

Like President Trump, this is the first time First Lady Melania has sat next to President Putin at a major conference. Born in Slovenia and speaking several languages, including German, Melania is said to have spoken to Putin in German because the Russian leader also speaks the language.
