Champions League Team of the Season 2016-2017

Champions Real dominate the 18-man squad selected by European football governing body UEFA.

The 18 players in the squad include 11 starters and seven substitutes. This is also the number that teams prepare for each match.

Real dominate with eight players on the list, while Juventus and Atletico each have three.The list was selected by the UEFA Technical Committee. The committee includes: Sir Alex Ferguson, Ryan Giggs, Mircea Lucescu, Fabio Capello, Roy Hodgson, Peter Rudbæk, Mixu Paatelainen, Gines Melendez, Thomas Schaaf and Ioan Lupescu.

Here are the 18 players selected.

Goalkeeper

Buffon (Juventus): Showed great form throughout the season and is also the leader of the club.

Jan Oblak (Atletico): An excellent goalkeeper with a high save record.

Defender

Bonucci (Juventus): A key member of Juventus' three-man defence. Coordinates effective defence with tactical vision and passing ability.

Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid): Showing increasingly excellent form as Real go deeper.

Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid): Captain and key defender of the champions.

Marcelo (Real Madrid): Like teammate Carvajal, has made excellent contributions to Real.

Diego Godin (Atletico): The rock in the team's solid defense.

Midfielder

Casemiro (Real Madrid): brings long-range defensive solutions and balance to Real, while also contributing important goals.

Casemiro once again played a role in Real's success.

Toni Kroos (Real Madrid): ensures ball control for Real, has the ability to choose positions very wisely and plays comprehensively in midfield.

Luka Modric (Real Madrid): Helps the team win with sharp and sharp passes.

Isco (Real Madrid): Shows the form of an attacking midfielder at the highest level. Can dribble, pass and score from the left, right and central flanks.

Miralem Pjanic (Juventus): Played a key role in Juventus reaching the final. A quality deep-lying playmaker.

Lionel Messi (Barca): Ranked second in the list of players with the most goals. Always knows how to create opportunities for himself and his teammates.

Antoine Griezmann (Atletico): His goalscoring ability, teamwork and efficiency are always a model for every striker.

Mbappe is only 18 years old.

Kylian Mbappe (Monaco): A fantastic young player in a fantastic young team. Has great finishing ability.

Robert Lewandowski (Bayern): Plays very effectively, scores many goals and plays well as a team.
