Vietnam reduces from 10 to 2 deputy delegations at SEA Games 29
8 deputy heads of delegation who were "resigned" still join the Vietnamese sports delegation but as officials.
On July 3, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation for the 29th SEA Games was established, with a total of 693 members, including one head of delegation, 10 deputy heads of delegation, 18 delegation officers, 22 doctors, 32 team leaders, 28 experts, 106 coaches and 476 athletes. The number of members is 123 more than the 28th SEA Games.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism explained that the number of deputy delegations at the 29th SEA Games is up to 10 people, three more than the 28th SEA Games, because the number of athletes is 84 more. Vietnamese sports compete in 32 sports, four more than the previous games. The members do not live together in the athletes' village, but are distributed in five clusters of locations.
However, on July 6, Minister Nguyen Ngoc Thien worked with the leaders of the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, Deputy Minister Le Khanh Hai and related units. Minister Thien requested the General Department to review the organizational structure and composition of the Vietnamese sports delegation attending the 29th SEA Games.
The delegation decided to reduce the number of deputy delegation members to 2 people, according to the request from the 29th SEA Games Organizing Committee.The remaining eight people still followed the group and carried out the previously assigned tasks, but as officers.
The identities of the two official deputy delegations of Vietnam Sports at the 29th SEA Games have not yet been revealed.
SEA Games 29 held in Malaysia from August 19 to 30.
