The '3 in 1' dream of a good student at Huynh Thuc Khang School
(Baonghean.vn) - After finishing the National High School Exam, Tran Trung Kien (student of class 12A1) was one of the students with the highest results at Huynh Thuc Khang High School. However, few people know that to achieve this success, Kien had to overcome a very difficult period of time...
When we arrived at the house of the determined student in Dong Vinh Ward - the suburb of Vinh City, Ms. Tran Thi Dan, Kien's mother, had just been discharged from the hospital after 3 months of treatment.
Talking about her son, unable to hold back her tears, she choked up: “While in the hospital, I kept thinking about him being home alone during the exam preparation period, and I felt both sad and worried. When I heard that he got a high score, I was so happy, I felt lighter and healthier!”…

At the age of 38, Kien's mother just got married and gave birth to her first son, Kien. Although they live in the city, the family of four lives on a few fields owned by Kien's grandmother in Nghi Kieu (Nghi Loc) and her father's meager salary as a security guard at the Friendship Hotel. Life became even more difficult when, 3 months ago, right at the time of Kien's final exam preparation, his mother suffered a stroke and was paralyzed on one side of her body. That situation forced Kien to stay home alone, while his father and brother had to go to Hanoi to take his mother for treatment.
Recalling those days, Kien still feels uneasy: When he saw his mother lying motionless, on the brink of death, he suffered a huge psychological shock. In the early days, it seemed impossible to study. After that, the more he thought about his mother, the more determined he became and told himself: he must study well, get high scores in the exam to enter the Military Medical Academy as his mother wished.
Since his mother was hospitalized, Kien had to cook for himself, and his main menu was "instant noodles" and then ride his bike to school. When he got home at night, he buried his head in studying, "when he was too hungry, he made instant noodles". For Kien, every few days his classmates would come over to help and review together.
Studying in groups also helped Kien and his friends progress very quickly, especially with multiple choice test questions: We read the questions ourselves and answer them ourselves. If we encounter any difficult questions, the whole group will discuss and find solutions. With this way of studying, each student's weaknesses were overcome very quickly...

Kien is also the deputy head of the class and is in charge of the class's common email address. To make studying effective, every student in the class can access the email. During the review process, if anyone finds any good or interesting documents, they can send them to the common email, building them into a useful reference source. Talking about Kien, teacher Hoang Thi Tan, the class leader, is also very proud of her student because Kien is a very brave, determined and hard-working boy.
What is admirable is that Kien studies very well but mainly only at school and hardly takes extra classes. Talking about the reason, Kien said, “I only study at school because I think the knowledge taught by the teachers is enough. I also need time to consolidate the lessons so extra classes are not necessary and I don’t have time to study more.”
Another way to study that Kien finds quite effective is to go to the Facebook of famous teachers to ask for documents or collect difficult exercises. However, Kien only uses Facebook to study, so his way of “quitting” Facebook during exam preparation is to hardly make friends with anyone or not visit entertainment sites.

By studying this way, Kien was quite confident when entering the exam room. The result after months of studying with determination and passion helped the student at Quoc Hoc Vinh achieve a total score of 28.75 points in block A (Math 10 points, Physics 9 points, Chemistry 9.75 points).
Sharing more about the results, Kien said he was very happy, especially when not only Kien but the entire class 12A1 had an average score of over 25 points. Among them, there were 4 students, nearly 29 points. Kien's only regret was Physics, because his goal was to get 10 points, not 9 points. "I made mistakes on easy questions. Because during the learning process, I was only interested in difficult questions. Meanwhile, with multiple choice tests, whether difficult or easy, the score for each question is 0.25 points/question."
With 28.75 points, Kien’s entrance to the Military Medical Academy is very close. Kien himself also said that studying Military Medicine means he has fulfilled his “3 in 1” dream: reducing the tuition burden for his parents, becoming a military officer, and becoming a doctor - the job he dreamed of since childhood...
As for Kien's family, their son's first success has brought the family new hope, hope for a future without hardship and difficulty...
