Continuing the working session with the delegation from the International Small Vessel Recycle Project (Japan), Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien expressed gratitude for the International Small Vessel Recycle Project's interest in Nghe An province.

On the afternoon of June 21st, a delegation from the International Small Vessel Recycle Project (Japan) conducted a survey in Nghe An province to explore the possibility of cooperation in building a cluster of shipbuilding and repair factories and establishing direct flights from Japanese airports to Vinh International Airport. Mr. Huynh Thanh Dien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, chaired the meeting. Representatives from various provincial departments and agencies also attended.

Comrade Huynh Thanh Dien emphasized: Vietnam in general, and Nghe An in particular, have a traditional friendly cooperative relationship with Japan. For Nghe An, Japan is a priority investment partner, and therefore, in recent times, delegations of provincial leaders have directly visited, worked with, and promoted investment in Japan. In particular, many Japanese investors have successfully invested in the locality, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated that, in a short period of time, after donating the Hamakaze composite-hulled patrol boat to Nghe An, the organization had held a working session with the province to continue the program of supporting fishing vessels for Nghe An fishermen and cooperate in building a cluster of shipbuilding and repair factories, and opening direct flights from Japanese airports to Vinh International Airport.

During discussions with provincial leaders, representatives from the International Small Vessel Recycle Project (Japan) informed that the organization will continue to provide Nghe An with 30 vessels larger than the Hamakaze vessel (delivered in April 2017).

However, the biggest challenge is the enormous cost of transporting these ships from Japan to Vietnam. The organization is currently studying options for transporting them to Vietnam. Simultaneously, they are surveying the possibility of establishing a temporary import/re-export port location in Nghe An province, which would include a complex of ship repair, maintenance, and shipbuilding facilities.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien expressed his hope that the International Small Vessel Recycle Project (Japan) would provide the original documents of the vessels to be donated to fishermen to facilitate management, inspection, and maintenance.

Furthermore, the province hopes that the organization will continue to provide assistance in the form of vessels with functions for patrolling, handling, and conducting search and rescue operations in coastal and riverine areas, as well as working with the Japanese government to support the funding for transporting these vessels to Vietnam.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that the province is very eager to open a flight route to Japan to develop tourism and socio-economic development. Therefore, through organizing the connection to open the Vinh - Japan flight route and facilitating further investment by Japanese businesses in Nghe An, the province hopes to cooperate with Japan in labor export and collaboration in the field of education, especially Japanese language training.

Regarding the organization's proposal, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Thanh Dien promised to assign relevant departments to organize its implementation.
