Youth Union activities must continue to focus on substance.

(Baonghean.vn) - Mr. Pham Ngoc Canh, Chairman of the Provincial Youth Union, requested that the Union's activities continue to focus on substance and genuinely help young people.

On the afternoon of June 20th, the Vietnam Youth Union of Nghe An province held a mid-term review conference on the implementation of the Resolution of the 4th Congress, term 2014-2019.

Halfway through its term, the Vietnam Youth Union of Nghe An province has successfully implemented movements including: "I love my homeland" with campaigns such as: Youth competing in self-improvement, youth competing in contributing, and youth living responsibly.

A highlight of these movements is that the Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Federation of Youth Associations advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue the Project: "Youth Union's participation in maintaining traffic safety and order in the period 2014-2017". The "Winter Volunteer Program and Spring Volunteer Program" were actively implemented and had many important meanings.

To commend the collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the Winter Volunteer Program 2016 and Spring Volunteer Program 2017, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 collectives and 5 individuals; the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 6 collectives and 6 individuals; and the Secretariat of the Vietnam Youth Union of Nghe An province awarded Certificates of Commendation to 20 collectives and 11 individuals.

Over the three years (2014-2016), the entire province mobilized social resources and encouraged youth union members to donate more than 3,800 warm blankets, 45,200 sets of warm clothes, and 6,570 sets of school supplies to students in disadvantaged areas; and 90 tons of rice and more than 7,100 packages of essential goods to help people celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year).

The Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign is being intensified, focusing on key areas such as: "Supporting Students During Exams," "Supporting Students to School," and participating in the New Rural Development Program. Each year, throughout the campaign, the province establishes 35-40 specialized youth volunteer teams.

The voluntary blood donation movement has been widely implemented and achieved high effectiveness. From 2014 to 2016, the entire province attracted more than 45,000 youth union members and young people to donate over 26,000 units of blood.

In particular, the Provincial Youth Union Secretariat focused on directing the establishment of new branches, while also organizing the transformation of branch models based on residential areas into youth clubs, teams, and groups in various fields, and innovating the methods and forms of branch activities.

To date, the province has 21 out of 21 districts, cities, and towns with district-level Young Doctors Clubs; and 11 out of 21 districts, cities, and towns with district-level Youth Entrepreneurship Clubs…

Every year, the Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Federation of Youth Associations organize the program: "Vietnam-Laos Youth Friendship Exchange and Meeting" in Nghe An and the provinces of Laos that share a border with Nghe An: Xieng Khouang, Hua Phan, and Bolykhamxay.

Through these activities, several new models and good practices have emerged, such as: the model of building "Volleyball courts for villages in Catholic and ethnic minority areas," with a total of 52 volleyball courts built in half a term; the "Bowl of Compassion" and "Pot of Kindness" models, which have been replicated in 13 out of 21 units…

At the conference, discussions focused on implementing the targets of the Resolution of the 4th Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union of Nghe An province, such as building economic models among young people.

According to Cao Anh Duc, Secretary of the District Youth Union and Chairman of the Hung Nguyen District Youth Federation: To build economic models among young people, it is necessary to orient the development of models along the value chain, where the output of one model serves as the input for another, to ensure stable production for young people with limited capital, small scale, and primarily agricultural production.

The opinions expressed at the conference also contributed solutions to increase the rate of membership among youth, especially in special areas; and to improve the effectiveness and quality of activities and operational models of the district-level training councils…

Concluding the conference, Mr. Pham Ngoc Canh – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union Association of Nghe An province – requested that each Youth Union and Association official at all levels continue to cultivate and improve their political and ideological awareness to provide correct guidance for union members and young people; pay more attention to young people, and promptly grasp socio-economic issues in the area.

Mr. Pham Ngoc Canh also suggested that the Youth Union at all levels should base its actions on the practical situation in each locality to promote the transformation of branches into clubs and groups; and build economic development clubs in localities...
